An Ode to Change
Who am I – do you want to know
Then stay a while before you go
I was created by G-D like you
So I am just like you a fellow Jew
I too like you, have joys and fears
And too like you, I have shed many tears
I need acceptance, love and respect
Is that too much for me to expect
I do not hide beneath the darkness of night
For the day cometh with all its bright light
For I cannot change the way I am
There is no point in living a sham
Like autumn leaves that fall to ground
Like the seasons that come around
And like the blue sky high above
All I want is your support and love
I have known happiness I have known despair
Both can be monsters and are right there
But despair destroys my self esteem
Happiness gives me a chance to dream
Life comes with many burdens
And my life has them too
Pity can be an awful demon
But pride will let me stand with you
I know I’m not the same as you
And I know there is little I can do
So lets forget the days of old
And let a new life start to unfold
I hope you know me better now
And things will change between me and you
There is still much work we need to do
Hopefully then my fears will be few
So when you pass me in the street
Stop, say hello and smile at me
New friends are always nice to meet
