Admission Criteria
All admissions are assessed by a Medical Panel consisting of a Consultant Psychiatrist, a Consultant Psychologist, Social Worker, Nursing Staff and Administrative Director.
The identification of a handicap in a young child can devastate a family. Many parents feel isolated by a struggle which few seem to understand and have difficulty in coping with this problem. It has been found in many instances that people with mental disabilities can be more successfully cared for and their skills more adequately developed in a residential facility such as Glendale.
These persons with intellectual disabilities have a right to a stable environment, self respect and dignity. The main focus of Glendale is to provide TOTAL CARE, with the emphasis on developing their social skills.
The criteria for admission to Glendale is that the applicant must be a suitable candidate and that Glendale should suit their particular needs as the home is an open facility without restraint areas. The object is to normalise their daily living as much as possible.
